The Office of the Registrar reserves the right to drop any class for any student where:

  • Prerequisite has not yet been met
  • Courses are outside the student's division/degree program (i.e., M.Div. students may not register for Ph.D. 8000-level courses; M.Div. students may not register for M.S.M. courses (MU5000-level courses). In order to take courses outside their division, M.A., M.Div. and M.S.M. students must obtain written permission from the instructor; all Graduate Theological Education students must obtain written permission of both the instructor and the associate dean.); and/or
  • Courses are outside the student's status level (i.e., M.Div. juniors/middlers/interns may not register for senior-level 3000-level courses).

Student Responsibility

Be sure to view your schedule after completing all transactions; it's your responsibility to verify your registration. Also be sure to logout after completing all transactions for security reasons.
Please use your LUTHER SEMINARY email account to email for any questions pertaining to your student record.  This is the official channel of communication and students are expected to monitor and use it to receive important information regarding registration, bill payments, and all other student services.  If you email us from your private email account, you will be asked to resend and submit your question/concerns.   


Changes to Spring Semester schedules must be made by contacting the Office of the Registrar at from your Luther Seminary email account or by stopping by the office.  
Changes to S6 (Second Six Week) course schedules may be made from February 11 to April 1 by contacting the Office of the Registrar.  
S6 courses begin the week of Wednesday, March 26. Therefore, if your course meets on Thursdays, your first class will meet on Thursday, March 27. If your course meets on Mondays, your first class will meet on Monday, March 31. 


Summer Registration will begin Thursday, April 24 by class status.  Summer schedules are available in Course Search.  Students wishing to talk over the registrations with staff from either the SRC or the Registrar's Office are welcome to do so.  Please contact or

Class Status (Reclassification) may be seen by clicking on the Personal Info link in the top-right corner.  
  • MDIV Seniors have completed internship (or had it waived by Contextual Leadership) and completed 20 or more credits. 
  • MDIV Middlers have completed between 10 and 19.5 credits. 
  • MDIV Juniors have completed 9.5 or fewer credits. 
Completed credits includes ONLY courses that have been graded (NR, Incompletes, etc. do not count toward earned credits) and does NOT include the prerequisite Greek 1.5 credits. 
  • MA Seniors have completed 9 or more credits. 
  • MA Juniors have completed 8.5 or fewer credits.  
Students serving a concurrent internship will be classified as a Senior in the second year of the concurrent internship for registration purposes.     
Reclassifications are made in mid-June based on credits that were completed as of May 30 (Spring grades due date).   NO re-classifications will occur before J-Term, Spring Semester, or Summer registration periods.
