Description

An examination of the ancient Israelite monarchy as presented in the books of 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. Particular attention is given to historiography, literary styles, and theological commitments. The course also traces prominent themes in the texts, such as kingship and covenant, and their influence on Christian thought. Prerequisite: LG1100 or permission of the instructor.
