Description
A study of the theological, literary, and historical contours of apocalyptic literature. Significant engagement with modern notions of "apocalypse" and "apocalyptic" will occur, with the intent of addressing these understandings in ways that are both critical and pastoral. The political nature of apocalyptic literature will also be underscored, and in a way that highlights the church's own call to political engagement. Finally, the course will invite students to think about how apocalyptic theology can inspire, shape and inform Christian public ministry today.
