Description
A survey of extra-biblical Jewish writings from the time of the Maccabees until the time of the Mishnah (c. 200 BCE-200CE). Selected texts are chosen from the Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha, Dead Sea Scrolls, Philo, and Josephus to explore the varieties of Jewish belief and practice. These materials shed light on the New Testament and examine ways in which believers interpreted their Scripture in a complex, pluralistic society.
