This picture to the left is an artist's rendition of St. Paul. It is from a fresco at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, Rome ('outside' the wall of ancient Rome, but the city extends beyond it today.) The fresco is from the fifteenth century, created by Antoniazzo Romano. In some ways the cracks in it are fitting for the apostle Paul, who suffered many ways during his life and finally was martyred.
